Last week I had the privilege of joining Sunset Books on Helderberg FM for a conversation about discovery, growth, and connection.
The purpose of the interview was twofold:
✨ to introduce my business, Konnect Brainprofiling, and
✨ to highlight the importance of collaboration and community.
More Than Just a Bookstore
My collaborator for this interview, Sunset Books, is an amazing bookstore on Beach Road in Strand, Helderberg. They are so much more than just a bookshop...there’s too much to mention, so my only advice is - go and see for yourself! Their owner, Udine Joubert, is also part of the Moms Biz Network, which she invited me to attend.
They say it takes a village to raise a child. Likewise, it takes a tribe to grow a business. This network, and the collaboration that flows from it, provides just that.
Being surrounded by other women who are building new businesses is both inspiring and essential. We share experiences, tips, and wisdom. We ask questions, learn together, and grow together. The support, encouragement, and joy that comes from this kind of collaboration is priceless, especially in the early days of entrepreneurship. And just as importantly, learning from someone else’s journey helps you avoid common mistakes and unnecessary detours.
Why Konnect?
My business is called Konnect, with a “K” to honor my Afrikaans roots. The name was chosen with intention: connection is everything.
We connect with:
Other people, through relationships and collaboration.
Ourselves, by understanding how we think and learn.
Nature and the world around us, for balance and perspective.
All of these connections are essential for holistic growth. And that’s where whole-brain thinking and brain profiling come in.

The Role of Brain Profiling
During the interview, I was asked: “What exactly is brain profiling, and how does it help people in everyday life?”
My answer was simple: brain profiling is like holding the owner’s manual to your own mind. It shows you how you naturally think, learn, problem-solve, and communicate. Whether you’re a student choosing subjects, a parent guiding your child, or a professional in a team, knowing your brain profile gives you clarity and confidence.
But here’s the deeper truth: once you know your profile, you also understand which areas are less preferred for you. That knowledge is powerful. It allows you to adapt, stretch outside of your comfort zone, and grow when life requires it.
In the same way, collaboration can feel uncomfortable at first - reaching out, connecting, or stepping into new spaces. But just like expanding into your less-preferred brain quadrants, it is necessary for growth. And you cannot do it alone.
Connection and Collaboration Go Hand-in-Hand
Brain profiling helps you connect with yourself. Collaboration helps you connect with others. Both are reciprocal, both are about giving and receiving, and both create opportunities for learning and growth.
That’s why this interview mattered: it wasn’t just about brain profiling, but about the bigger picture of connection. Because whether in business, studies, work, or life, we thrive when we connect.
Final Thought
Starting and growing a business takes time, patience, and courage. The support of a network, the wisdom of collaboration, and the insight from brain profiling all serve as guides on that journey.
✨ Self-awareness opens the door to personal growth.
✨ Collaboration opens the door to shared growth.
✨ Together, they create the kind of connections that change everything.
If you haven’t discovered your brain profile yet, maybe now is the time. It might just be the key to not only understanding yourself, but also building the connections that will shape your future.
